Today at farm camp I fed Dite(my baby goat), then I rode the horses. Next we went throughout a trail cleaning out branches and logs, so that the horses will not trip on them. Then I got Skittles(my big goat) to practice for the goat show. Next we came inside and learned about the bees and saw some bees in the observation hive. Then I milked Skittles, which her milk weighed 1,9. Next I came inside and me and Meridith helped make cheese. Now I am about to make laundry detergent, so follow my blog if you want to know everything I'm doing at FARM CAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wednesday, July 27, 2011
Today at farm camp, I first fed Dite. Then we went horseback riding and Allie taught me how to put the saddle on the horse. Then we went out into the pasture and picked up rocks that could harm the horses. Then we cleaned angora goat fiber. Then I got to try to make yarn on a spinning wheel, which doesnt have a needle on it like in Sleeping Beauty. Then I milked my goat, which bees were attracted to.(Meridith got stung .... again)Last, we made cheese out of the goat milk. This is Jessica with everything I've done at farm camp.

Today I fed Dite again and i milked Skittles. Skittles' milk weighed 1,6. Then I got to ride Patches and Bellla, which I got to ride Bella without anyone guiding her, it was awesome. Then I got to make a clover out of leather.
Next ( this was the best thing yet ) we scooped horse, llama and alpaca poo!!!!! We made ICE CREAM. Then we had to try to catch an alpaca. Once we caught it, we sheared it. Then we ate lunch, but i spilled my water bottle, thinking it was closed. I am about to make lip balm so i'll be back tommorow with every thing i've done at the farm. FARM CAMP IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I fed this little baby goat named Dite out of a bottle and I got to milk a goat named Skittles. I also rode a horse named Bella and a horse named Patches, they were so adorable! I held a little baby bunny, too. I cleaned out these buckets that were filled with all of this dirt and stuff, even though it sounds nasty it was actually fun. Meridith got bit by a yellow jacket, but she's fine now. ( I got stung by a honey bee last year THIS CAMP IS CURSED BY THE BEES ) Overall I had the best time at farm camp!!!

SonRidge Farm
*(Written by SonRidge Farm)*
I will be attending a 4-H Farm Camp in July.
While there I will learn things from tacking up and riding a horse...

to learning about processing & cleaning Angora Goat Fiber.
I will also be assigned a dairy goat; which I will be responsible for milking, feeding, everyday care & even learn how to show her.
And don't forget... I'm also assigned my very own "kid" (baby goat) for the week!

I will learn how to make blacksmith items in a forge
and even make cheese, butter, and ice cream.
I'll learn about bees and get to make my own beeswax lip balm.
And of course... much, MUCH more!
I'm going to have so much fun and I can't wait for the week to start. I will even be keeping my own blog updated for the week. Please follow my blog so you can see all the things I'm doing and learning.
We can even come to family day on the farm...for free! I know that I'll want to introduce all my family to each of the animals on the
farm.
